Traditionally oil and petroleum products shipping were the main business area of Volgotanker. At present along with shipping companies Volgotanker Group includes servicing companies, shipbuilding and ship-repair plants.
Expansion of Volgotanker business activities aimed at development of the new business areas is one of the most important strategic issues of the Group.

Shipping services
The Volgotanker Group includes JSC Volgotanker, the biggest European enterprise specializing in transportation of liquid cargos on the inland-waterway system.
Volgotanker is a unique modern transportation company being a part of the water transport system of Russia. Volgotanker plays a significant strategic role in Russian economy.
The shipping company controls 70 percent of liquid cargo transportation market in the Volga-Kama river basin and is responsible for 10 percent of the total Russian exports of fuel oil. Volgotanker commercial fleet with a total cargo carrying capacity in excess of 1,2 million tons includes 353 vessels:
- 204 tankers and OBOs with a capacity ranging from 300 to 10000 tons;
- 95 barges with a capacity ranging from 1000 to 9000 tons;
- 54 tugboats.
Every year Volgotanker vessels transport more than 11 million tons of different cargos such as:
- crude oil;
- dark and light petroleum products;
- oils;
- liquid chemicals;
- steel products.
