Rail Transportation and Through Freights
Sea Sotra is moving considerable quantities of material for clients on an Intermodal basis within the CIS. This includes import, export, internal and country-to-country shipment. We now frequently include in this service port handling from or upto FOB stowed therefore offering a complete package from / to ship from / to factory or site, which can include Sea freight if required.
Sea Sotra is a member of both BIFA and FIATA and is insured for these operations with the TT Club in London.
Port Operations
In the Black Sea we built upon our long-standing relationships with Ship owners, Port and Railways Authorities to establish our own office at the port of Novorossiysk in 1993. From this we now organize for traders / shippers / receivers various Control / Information gathering and transport services including:
- Port Acceptance
- Stock control, storage, stevedoring, marking, lot splitting, repackaging, supervision of loading and discharging, cargo surveying, pre-carriage / On-carriage.
- Local forwarding and transport via Road / Rail / Canal.
- Other control / cargo requirements specific to our clients requirements.
From this office we cover the following Russian ports in Southern Russia; Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Azov and Temryuk. We offer similar services in the Ukrainian ports of Illychevsk, Odessa, Yuzhny, Reni and Izmail. These ports are covered via our office Odessa which has been open for over 6 years.
Caspian Sea Services
Our Moscow office has managed several vessels in the Caspian Sea and operated a least one other offering a regular parcel service from Astrakhan and Mahachkala calling at Bandar Anzali and Bandar Nowshahr in Iran. This service runs at least twice a month carrying cargoes in both directions. Other ports on the Volga and Don Rivers as well as in the Caspian sea including Turkmanbashi, Actau and Baku are served on a regular basis by chartering tonnage to meet clients requirements.
River Vessels
For internal waterways and short-sea work we regularly charter river sea type vessels. These are Single Decker's used for the shipment of general bulk cargoes including grain, timber, ores, steel, ferrous / non-ferrous metals.
Barges
Operating flat and hatch barges as well as River Sea tugs of various sizes in the Baltic, Russian Rivers, Caspian and Mediterranean Seas, Silverburn Shipping has together with Sea Sotra, handled prestige contracts such as the Russian Space Shuttle "Buran" to Sweden and over 100 20 mtrs brewery tanks to various places in Russia. Silverburn has also, and continues to, handle the transiting of supply vessels to the Caspian, towage of oil rigs in sections from Finland as well as numerous similar contracts over the last 8 years.
