It is true it is a relatively cheap, but the service is more than poor. Instead of 4-6 weeks contracted, it took more than 2 months to receive the shipment from Paris to NY. At the reception 2 items were reported broken and several others missing. Claiming reimbursement, the response was that there is a new policy since 1 Jan 2010. No matter that my contract was signed in October 2009.

We are currently trying to move from France to Canada. We are contracted with this incredibly incompetant provider. Here is what has happened:
Contract is signed mid-April 2010. They are to send boxes so that we can pack our belongings ahead of the not-yet schedule pick-up date. Weeks pass with no response to phone calls/e-mails and no boxes have been received. One week prior to finally established pick-up date, they advise that their box supplier may have gone out of business...they didn't know???
June 3, they arrive with boxes and to take everything away. Everything had to be packed in a rush, but we were content that everything would arrive in Vancouver around July 11, 2010.
We had to pay IN FULL up-front by cheque, which is normal if they are shipping immediately.
Weeks pass and we are awaiting the confirmation of the receiving company in Canada. Upon calling Schmidt Kahlert to get the information after a long period with no news, we are to discover that nothing has been shipped...it is now July 10th, 2010 - everything was still in France. After demanding explanations, we were screamed at by the provider because it wasn't their fault that stuff wasn't' sent, they just didn't have a container. Granted, that may not be their faults, but they certainly could have called to tell us.
After continous and repeated attempts to contact and be contacted by this company, we finally yelled back and found out that our stuff would be shipped from Holland on July 23rd and arrive in Montreal on August 9th. It then has to get to Vancouver, at some point, but they still won't get back to us with any details.
The customer service from the company is about the worst I have ever seen in my years. I honestly cannot say enough horrible things about them and I REGRET ever having engaged them in business. If there was a worthwhile lawsuit, you'd want to believe I would file it.
